
Jun Wu, IEEE Fellow, is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Computing and Intelligence Innovation, Fudan University. He also serves as an Executive Member of the Shanghai Computer Society. Formerly, he held positions as the Chair of the ACM Shanghai Chapter and the Chair of the IEEE ComSoc Multimedia Communications Technical Committee (MMTC). His primary research areas include: key technologies in wireless networks, encompassing communication signal processing, wireless resource management, and cloud radio access networks; artificial intelligence and machine learning, including unsupervised learning such as generative adversarial networks and variational autoencoders, as well as reinforcement learning; image and video processing and transmission; and embedded system hardware/software technologies, including deep learning processors.
He has published over 200 papers in international journals and conferences, with more than 100 indexed by SCI. Among his publications are globally highly cited ESI papers and three best paper awards from international conferences. To date, he has applied for/been granted more than 70 domestic and international invention patents, with nearly 50 patents authorized. In recent years, he has led several major national research projects, including: one key project under the National Key R&D Program “Key Scientific Issues in Transformative Technologies”; one key project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China; one major project topic under the National Natural Science Foundation; one key project topic under the Regional Joint Fund; and two general projects. He has also led two topics under the National Science and Technology Major Project “New Generation Broadband Wireless Mobile Communication Network” and one topic under the National Science and Technology Support Program. He has received several prestigious awards, including: the 2022 Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award (First Contributor), the 2018 Shanghai Technological Invention Award (First Contributor), the 2017 Ministry of Education Technological Invention Award (First Contributor), and the 2018 Chinese Institute of Electronics Natural Science Award (Third Contributor).
He currently serves as an editorial board member for the international journals IEEE Internet of Things Journal and Digital Communications and Networks, and previously served on the editorial boards of IEEE Transactions on Multimedia, IEEE Network, IEEE Wireless Communications Letters, and the Journal of Communications. He served as the General Co-Chair of the 2022 17th EAI International Conference on Communications and Networking in China (EAI Chinacom 2022), the Conference Chair of the 2020 10th International Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM 2020), the Program Committee Chair of the 2019 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo (ICME), the Symposium Chair of the “Communication Software Services and Multimedia Applications” symposium at IEEE GLOBECOM 2016, and the Program Committee Chair of the 2015 10th International Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM 2015).
